Trans Rights Are Human Rights 🏳️‍⚧️

Happy International Day of Transgender Visibility — I see you today and everyday! 💙💓🤍💓💙

I drew this cartoon especially for today. If we could all be together, this is what it would look like: a big trans party with all of us supporting and cheering on our trans friends, exactly as they deserve.

It is a revolutionary act to be yourself. To embrace who you are and celebrate it. And to celebrate those around you who do the same. For the trans community, this is not always easy.

Let me be clear: trans rights are human rights. This isn’t up for debate. Trans lives matter and for that reason I am committed to making art that celebrates and uplifts trans people. Art that speaks up against the culture that fosters fear, hate, violence, and cruelty against the trans community.

Did you know that in 2022, there are 7 states in the USA that have proposed bills that would limit the rights of trans and non-binary youth? The rights of trans people are under attack, we can’t sit around and watch any longer.

3 things you can do today to help with transgender visibility:

Ask for and use the correct pronouns when talking to a trans person.
Read up on trans history and current issues affecting trans people.
Reach out to trans people in your community to make sure they feel seen, heard, and loved

In honor of International Day of Transgender Visibility here are a few of my favorite Transgender Cartoons.

Family Fun

I love the power and effectiveness of my cartoons. Take, for example, my trans cartoons… say… one of my trans sheep with a loving and accepting Jesus. I could write a 1,000 word argument in support of the validity of this cartoon. But, likely, most people would scroll on or go through mental gymnastics to oppose it. However, the cartoon in a single frame with few words bypasses the brain and goes straight to the heart. There’s no time to ignore. There’s no time for a defense. There’s no time for an argument. It’s too late. You can’t unsee it. This is why I love drawing and sharing my cartoons. I think they are making a difference.

Transgender and Friendship Cartoon

I say no to backlash, bullying, and exclusion! This is more like it. Today is the day to celebrate, love and be grateful for the transgender people in your lives so we can start making the world a safer and more inclusive place for them every day.

Because at the end of the day, we’re all just trying to fit in and feel loved. And the puzzle isn’t complete without everybody.

A cartoon by NakedPastor called, “Puzzle of love”. Jesus sits on the floor building a heart shaped puzzle with a trans sheep, an LGBTQ+ sheep and a black sheep. They are all building the puzzle while eating snacks.
